Sanctuary Pittsburgh
Tattoos are painful but the experience shouldn’t be. For years tattooing has been a male-dominated industry, and there has been a long history of misogyny and bigotry. Clients have shared experiences of sexual harassment, aggressive or off-putting comments, lack of compassion, misconduct or other traumatic experiences. At Sanctuary, we offer a warm and inviting space for tattooing. Our mission is to reclaim our bodies as sacred spaces while creating art and self-love by offering a safe, private environment for anyone regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation.
Sanctuary will never stop working toward a better representation in the tattoo industry.
Our goal is to facilitate personal growth in a comfortable, judgement-free environment. We believe that we can heal and improve ourselves. Everyone is welcome to find inner peace and healing on a physical, mental, and spiritual level by reclaiming our bodies as sacred spaces whether it is through tattooing, fashion, or art.
We aim to break typical gender roles in vintage fashion, creating a new and progressive modern look. Clothing shouldn’t define a person’s sexual orientation or gender. Instead, fashion should be a form of art and self-expression, blurring the lines between men’s and women’s clothing and breaking gender norms by embracing our own styles!
