Role Description
We’re looking for a Senior Process Development Engineer to join our anode engineering team. This team is responsible for establishing and validating processes used for manufacturing the iron anodes deployed in Form Energy’s commercial product.
In this role, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of high-budget, high-volume manufacturing processes at new production facilities. Your novel process development experience and creativity will enable you to create and implement world class, fully automated processes that enable the production of our first of a kind grid storage technology. This is an exciting opportunity to develop processes from scratch and have a large impact on the future of our manufacturing while doing your part to help combat climate change.
This role will be located at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV, which is just a short drive outside of Pittsburgh, PA
What you’ll do:
- Develop full-scale, custom iron anode production processes in partnership with battery design and equipment teams
- Characterize and develop deep understanding of critical material performance in the processes through experimentation and analysis in order to drive process development
- Document and continuously improve the process steps required to deliver iron anodes capable of use in battery assembly and testing
- Develop novel test methods to evaluate production quality in real time
- Train technicians, process engineers, and scientists on new manufacturing equipment and processes
- Perform equipment and process capability studies and make improvements based on those data driven results.
- Work closely with equipment design engineers and outside partners to successfully complete proof of concept and implementation.
- Be a champion for safety while applying industry standards and best practices to establish novel, world class, and efficient processes
What you’ll bring:
- 4+ years of experience with process engineering in a pilot line or fast paced manufacturing environment, such as in NPI or scale-up
- Familiarity with metallurgical techniques such as powder processing a plus
- Expertise with statistical methods for making process development decisions (using JMP or Minitab or equivalent)
- Demonstrated track record of innovative development and engineering when bringing a technology from concept to production
- Experience authoring process, safety, and quality documentation for best in class practices
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
